A traditional double room for 2026–27. A traditional single runs $10,694 to $11,002. Residence fees are paid in two installments, due September 10 and January 10.

There's no single opening date. OSAP recommends full-time students apply no later than 60 days before the end of their study period, because processing time is what makes people late, not eligibility. The 2026–27 application is open now.
Fall fees due
Fees for Fall and Year course enrolments are due September 10. Residence and meal plan fees are also due in two installments, the first on September 10 and the second on January 10. Outstanding balances accrue interest at 1.09% per month.
Entrance scholarship and award application
The scholarships, awards and bursaries application opens in MyFile on December 1 and closes April 1. Some awards close as early as February 15. You don't need an offer of admission to apply, only a York student number.
Winter fees due
Fees for Winter course enrolments are due January 10, along with the second half of residence and meal plan charges.

Does York University use OSAP?
Yes. OSAP is Ontario's program, and York is an approved school. If Ontario is your province of residence, you apply through OSAP and York's Student Financial Services office handles your file. Your province of residence is generally the last province you lived in for 12 consecutive months outside of full-time study.
Can I get OSAP as an out-of-province student at York?
You apply to your home province's program, not Ontario's. A student from Alberta studying at York applies through Alberta Student Aid. The school you attend doesn't determine which program funds you, your province of residence does.
Do I have to apply separately for York scholarships?
Some entrance awards are automatic based on your admission average, but most need an application through the scholarships, awards and bursaries form in MyFile, open December 1 to April 1. You don't need an offer of admission to apply, only a York student number.
What happens if my student aid doesn't cover my tuition?
You're responsible for the shortfall by the payment deadline. Options include York's need-based bursaries, the work/study program, and a payment arrangement with Student Financial Services. Bursary money doesn't have to be paid back, so start there.
Do I need to file taxes as a York student with no income?
You should. Filing is how you claim your T2202 tuition credit and carry it forward, and it's what registers you for benefits like the GST/HST credit. Skipping it leaves money unclaimed.
