Queen's Financial Aid and Awards recommends submitting your OSAP application by July 1 so funding is in place for September. The hard deadline is 60 days before the end of your study period.
Residence application and $805 deposit
Apply for first-year residence and get your $805 deposit in by 4 pm ET on June 1 to keep your residence guarantee. The application opens March 5.
Fall General Bursary
One application on SOLUS covers need-based bursary support for the fall and winter terms. Decisions post to SOLUS in late December.
Major Admission Award application
One application on SOLUS covers the major admission awards for the following year's entry. Apply by December 8.
Commitment Scholars application
For students with a record of leadership in racial justice, social justice, or diversity work. Renewable for up to four years. Apply on SOLUS by February 15.

Does Queen's University use OSAP?
Yes. OSAP is Ontario's program, and Queen's is an Ontario school. If Ontario is your province of residence, you apply through OSAP at ontario.ca/osap. OSAP combines federal and Ontario funding into loans and non-repayable grants.
Can I get OSAP as an out-of-province student at Queen's?
You apply to your home province's program, not Ontario's. A student from Alberta studying at Queen's applies through Alberta Student Aid. The school you attend doesn't determine which program funds you. Your province of residence does.
Do I have to apply separately for Queen's scholarships?
Some admission awards are automatic based on your admission average. The bigger ones need an application: the Major Admission Award, the Commitment Scholars, and the General Bursary all go through SOLUS under the Financial Aid tile. Automatic consideration covers less than students assume.
What happens if my student aid doesn't cover my tuition?
You're responsible for the shortfall by the payment deadline. If you're on OSAP, you get an automatic grace period on fall tuition to October 1 and winter tuition to January 31. Beyond that, options include the Queen's General Bursary, the Work Study program, or a student line of credit. Bursary money doesn't have to be paid back, so apply first.
Do I need to file taxes as a Queen's student with no income?
You should. Filing is how you claim your T2202 tuition credit and carry it forward, and it's what registers you for benefits like the GST/HST credit. One catch at Queen's: residence fees can't be claimed as rent. The Ontario tax credit only allows a $25 occupancy cost for time in residence.
