# Laurier scholarships and bursaries: every award and deadline

Laurier entrance scholarships are automatic at 85%, the Laurier Scholars Award pays up to $40,000, and one student profile covers most bursaries. Every award and its deadline.

---

**Short answer: Laurier awards $2,500 to $4,000 automatically based on your admission average, the Laurier Scholars Award pays up to $40,000, and one application, the student profile, covers most competitive bursaries. It closes September 24.**

Laurier's awards split into three groups: automatic entrance scholarships based on your admission average, competitive awards you apply for, and need-based bursaries. The application-based money goes unclaimed more than the automatic money does, so start with the application deadlines.

## Automatic entrance scholarships

No application. Laurier reads your admission average off your application:

| Admission average | Award |
|---|---|
| 85.0% to 89.9% | $2,500 |
| 90.0% to 94.9% | $3,000 |
| 95% to 100% | $4,000, President's Gold Scholarship |

The President's Gold Scholarship renews for four years if you keep a 10.5 GPA and 5.0 credits a year. The others are one-time.

Once you're in, in-course scholarships are automatic too: a 10.5 to 10.99 GPA earns $1,250 and an 11.0 or higher earns $1,500.

## Competitive awards with applications

- **Laurier Scholars Award:** the big one, up to $40,000 total, $7,500 a year for four years plus a $10,000 experiential learning award. Competitive, apply at admission.
- **CIBC STEM Entrance Award:** $5,000 for 15 students entering STEM programs.
- **Hallman Foundation Scholars Award:** for students from the Waterloo region.
- **Joyce Family Foundation Bursary:** minimum $5,000 a year, renewable, for the Milton campus.

Applications for the named entrance awards open January 15, 2027 and close May 4, 2027.

## Bursaries, which means need-based

Bursaries look at your financial situation, not your grades:

- **Laurier Tuition Bursary:** for upper-year domestic students. Apply October 1 to 22 for fall, February 2 to 24 for winter. The amount depends on assessed need.
- **Student profile:** one application that puts you in the running for most competitive bursaries and awards. It runs July 23 to September 24, so it lands in your first weeks of school. Donor bursaries pay out between October and March.
- **First Generation Bursary:** about $1,000 a year for students whose parents never attended post-secondary. Applications run November 17 to January 18.
- **Indigenous Student Bursary:** about $1,000, roughly 21 recipients, same November 17 to January 18 window.

## OSAP and how it fits

Laurier is OSAP-approved. Your OSAP application is due 60 days before the end of your study period, but Laurier recommends applying two months before your term starts, because processing is what makes people late, not eligibility. Funding arrives about 10 business days after Laurier confirms your enrolment. You can decline the loan portion and keep the grants.

## Work on campus

The Laurier Work-Study Program posts on-campus jobs each year, with applications running early August to early September. If you miss the window, departments hire directly all term, so it's worth asking anyway.

## The bottom line

Three applications matter: the Laurier Scholars Award and named awards at admission, the student profile by September 24, and the Tuition Bursary windows in October and February. The automatic scholarships take care of themselves if your average is 85% or higher.
