Student aid, awards, and budgeting help for Concordia University of Edmonton students — from a team built for Alberta students.

---

Concordia University of Edmonton sits on a compact campus in the Highlands, a ten minute drive from downtown, and paying for a degree here means juggling Alberta Student Aid, entrance scholarships that renew on grades, and tuition charged by the credit. This is what that actually looks like: what Alberta Student Aid covers, which awards close before you think, and where the money goes once it lands.

## Student aid program

Concordia University of Edmonton uses [Alberta Student Aid](https://studentaid.alberta.ca/).

## Key deadlines

### Apply to Alberta Student Aid (60 days ahead)

There's no single opening date. Student Aid recommends applying at least 60 days before your study period starts, because processing time is what makes people late, not eligibility. Starting on or after August 1, 2026 means the 2026/27 application.

### Entrance scholarship admission deadline (Apr 1 / Aug 1)

Apply for admission by April 1 for Fall or August 1 for Winter to be automatically considered for the University Entrance Scholarship. No separate application. Your admission average decides which tier you land in, from $1,000 a year at 75% up to $5,000 a year at 95%.

### CUE bursary application deadlines (Oct 15 / Feb 1)

Current students apply for general bursaries, up to $1,500 a year for students receiving government loans, by October 15 for Fall or February 1 for Winter. You don't need a loan to qualify for everything, but amounts are smaller without one.

## FAQs

### Does Concordia University of Edmonton use OSAP?

No. OSAP is Ontario's program. If Alberta is your province of residence, you apply through Alberta Student Aid, even if you moved here for school. Your province of residence is generally the last province you lived in for 12 consecutive months outside of full-time study.

### Can I get Alberta Student Aid as an out-of-province student at CUE?

You apply to your home province's program, not Alberta's. A student from Ontario studying at CUE applies through OSAP. The school you attend doesn't determine which program funds you. Your province of residence does.

### Do I have to apply separately for CUE scholarships?

The University Entrance Scholarship is automatic based on your admission average, as long as you apply for admission by the April 1 (Fall) or August 1 (Winter) deadline. Most other awards and bursaries need an application through the Financial Aid and Awards office. Bursaries for students on government loans run up to $1,500 a year with October 15 and February 1 deadlines.

### What happens if my student aid doesn't cover my tuition?

You're responsible for the shortfall by the payment deadline. Options include CUE's own bursaries, a conversation with the Financial Aid and Awards office about payment arrangements, or a student line of credit. Bursary money doesn't have to be paid back, so it's worth applying first.

### Do I need to file taxes as a CUE student with no income?

You should. Filing is how you claim your T2202 tuition credit and carry it forward, and it's what registers you for benefits like the GST/HST credit. Your T2202 is available through CUE's student portal each February.
